Competition Team

We encourage any of our dancers who are willing to work hard, and love to perform, to audition for the Competition Team in September. We would like to see more of our students audition, we see a lot of talent in our classes! The team attends a minimum of three competitions per season and attends one dance workshop. We hold fundraisers throughout the year to offset these costs. In the 2023 competitive season, 15 of our dancers formed 7 Teams and attended 3 competitions performing routines of jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, contemporary, acro, and lyrical, 13 in all.. On top of all of our platinum medals, performance and choreography awards, and scholarships, we placed in Top ten 26 times, 8 of those we were 1st Overall! Bravo dancers for an OUTSTANDING season!!!!

Do you have to take a million classes to be on Team?

Not at DU! Ballet and your competition class are required. Anything else will just help you improve as a dancer. You want more, we’ve got that too! Team members have the opportunity to take the technique class for their competition style FREE of charge! (for example, Sapphire Jazz Team members can take Jazz 1 free of charge!

Will I have to take out a second mortgage to be able to afford Team?

Not at DU! Entry fees are around $55/dancer/competition for a group routine (prices vary a little between different competition companies). We attend 3 competitions per season. We also attend 1 workshop (a whole day of dance) that costs around $100. To help reduce your out-of-pocket costs our Team parents run optional extra fundraisers that you can participate in. And don't forget to check out our referral program to earn free costumes!

Am I going to have to travel far and pay for hotel rooms?

Not at DU! You do not need to travel all over New England to attend dance competitions, they come right to us! All of the competitions we attend are within an hour radius of Ware. No hotels required!

Will I be placing my child into a stressful environment?

Not at DU! No tears, all smiles! Competitions are a fun weekend of dance where we perform, bond, learn about ways to improve, and support dancers from all over!
