Miss Maribeth has been teaching dance for over 20 years. A dancer all her life, Miss Maribeth started taking dance lessons at age 2 and was hooked! Maribeth was chosen to perform in the 1994 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the 1995 Citrus Bowl Pregame Show. She was also accepted into the Alvin Ailey Dance Program in New York City. Maribeth continues to study all aspects of dance. Throughout her career she has had the honor of studying under many dance masters including: Frank Hatchet, Bob Rizzo, Gus Giordano, Keith Clifton, Debbie Dee, Dan Karaty, Charles Kelly, Derek Mitchell, Deena Rizzo, Joshua Allen, Lauren Froderman, Melanie Moore, Melody Lacayanga, Kathryn McCormick, and many more. Maribeth has received numerous choreography awards for her work in Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, and Musical Theatre, and her students have been honored with many prestigious awards. She has also been guest faculty at other dance studios and workshops. Additionally, her students have gone on to dance in a college setting and some entering the dance field professionally, including performing with professional dance companies, teaching dance, and even a cheerleader for the New England Patriots. She joined the Dance Unlimited Staff in 2002, after Colleen Mucha, an original DU co-founder, stepped down from her share of the business. Miss Maribeth formed the first competition team at DU in 2002, and has run the program ever since. In 2018 she began her journey of sole ownership of Dance Unlimited. Miss Maribeth received her Associates Degree in Dance from Dean College and is DEA certified, as well holding a Bachelors Degree in Business.
Miss Linda has been teaching dance for over 30 years. She was an instructor at the former St. George Dance Studio, owned by Lauretta St. George Sorel, and is the only original DU co-founder remaining at the studio, Lauretta St. George-Sorel being another original co-founder. Linda has been a choreographer for the Ware Community Theatre for over 30 years. She has had the pleasure of attending numerous dance workshops, including the Dance Aficionado Workshops, and taking master classes from many esteemed dance figures. She has taught hundreds of students who have gone on to careers of their own, including professional dancers, dance instructors, as well a cheerleader for the New England Patriots. A certified dance instructor, she received her Masters of Fine Arts Degree (MFA) in Dance at Smith College, as well as holding degrees in Physical Education and Health from Springfield College, Miss Linda formerly taught Physical Education in Longmeadow public schools.
Miss Jolene has been teaching dance for over 20 years. A veteran of tap for over 40 years, as well as other dance genres, Miss Jolene took lessons from Lauretta St. George-Sorel at the St. George Dance Studio, before the studio became "Dance Unlimited" in 1987. In 1994, Miss Lauretta passed on her share of the business to Miss Jolene, who has been teaching tap ever since. She has attended a variety of workshops and master classes, and has had the honor of taking classes from many masters of dance, including Al Gilbert, Debbie Dee, David Bovat, Darryl Retter, Becca Retter, Ronn Daniels, Charles Kelley, and Roemary Boross, to name a few. Jolene has received a variety of judges awards as well as gold, high gold, platinum, high score, costume, and choreography awards for her tap routines, and some of her students have gone on to studying dance in college, as well as dancing professionally, and even a cheerleader for the New England Patriots. Jolene received her dance certification from DEA, or Dance Educators of America, and has attended their master workshops in New York City. Along with her expertise in tap, Miss Jolene holds an Associates Degree in Radiology, specializing in Mammography, and was just awarded the "Partners in Excellence" award at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.
Miss Cora has been a staff member at Dance Unlimited since 2015. She began dancing in high school here at DU in 2007, and has been with us ever since. A welcomed addition to our teaching staff, she began teaching modern, then added ballet, and various competition classes. Cora is a 2017 graduate of Springfield College where she received her Bachelor of Arts in dance. While there, she performed with their repertory company in various locations around New England, including the annual American College Dance Festival. She also choreographed and performed for the Springfield College Dancers club, and has taken master classes with Fritha Pengelly, Paul Dennis, Bill Evans, James Morrow, Jen Polins, and Kate Seethaler, to name a few. Although she has studied and performed all styles of dance, Cora focuses her teaching on modern and contemporary ballet. As an alum of Dance Unlimited, she wishes to bring back her outside knowledge and experience to create stronger, well rounded, and well versed dancers through her classes combining technique, conditioning, and artistry.
Miss Kristi has been a DU dancer since its founding. Joining the staff in 2006, Miss Kristi is the Zumba Director, as well as teaching some select hip hop and competition tap classes. She has trained with many Zumba professionals, and has attended a large variety of Zumba conferences, including a yearly conference in Orlando, Florida. Miss Kristi holds a degree in Elementary and Special Education, and was captain of her Dance Team at Salve Regina University.
Mr. Brett has been a Dance Unlimited staff member since 2016. He started dancing at age 4, taking tumbling with Miss Linda in 2002, and began taking tap lessons with his mom, Miss Jolene, in 2007. In high school, he entered the performing arts club, and began exploring the world of acting, along with keeping up with his dance background. He attended a variety of Broadway show workshops in New York City, along with many other members from the Holyoke Catholic High School Performing Arts Club. Some of these including dance workshops for Matilda, Aladdin, and stage combat. His junior year of high school, he traveled to Walt Disney World in Florida to perform in Downtown Disney with members of the Performing Arts Club, where they presented a variety of Broadway songs, as well as dance numbers, including a tap number co-choreographed by Brett. He achieved lead roles in some of the high school's productions, including "Lumiere" in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Currently studying Performing Arts and Business at Worcester State University, he attended the KCACTF acting festival in February, and is also a Tap choreographer for the Worcester State Dance Company.
Miss Mandy has been dancing and tumbling for over 30 years, and teaching dance for over 20 years. She holds experience instructing and choreographing acrobatics, jazz, lyrical, ballet, pointe, and tap, along with cheer dance, tumbling, and stunting. She was a dance major at Dean College and Keene State College. Mandy received a B.S. in Animal Science with a minor in Wildlife and Fisheries Management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in February of 2005, her M.S. in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Conservation Biology from Antioch University New England, Keene NH in May of 2010, and is currently finishing work on her PhD in Biology from Clark University, Worcester. Mandy is also an adjunct Professor at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester teaching a
variety of science courses. Mandy’s choreography and students have won many awards at regional competitions including gold, high gold, and platinum standings along with highest score in category, special awards, and costume awards. Many of her students have also been invited to participate in national camps, performances, and competitions. Mandy has also been a tumbling instructor for various dance studios in the western Massachusetts area, the Keene, NH YMCA, taught tumbling classes in the After School Program in Ware, and has assisted Belchertown High, Ware High and Pee Wee Cheerleading squads. Mandy continues her dance education through workshops, conventions, and master classes. She looks forward to her 18th year teaching at Dance Unlimited along side fellow teachers and friends.
Miss Kaylee has been a staff member at Dance Unlimited since 2017. She began dancing at age 3 here at DU and has been here ever since. Around age 12, Kaylee became a student leader under her jazz and hip hop instructor, Maribeth. Soon after she joined the Dance Unlimited competition team also ran by her mentor Maribeth, receiving awards of gold, high gold and platinum, with various special awards. In her senior year, Kaylee competed in The Center's Got Talent and placed in the top 3 acts performing a contemporary piece. Once Kaylee finished High School she continued on as an Intern for Miss Maribeth and took a larger roll in running classes and creating choreography, preparing her to take the step forward to becoming a teacher. Throughout her career as a dancer Kaylee has and continues to attend workshops and master classes where she has been able to learn from some amazing dancers such as Skooj, Valentine, Lauren Froderman, Melody Lacayanga, Kathryn McCormick, and many more. Kaylee is working towards her certification. She loves working with children. Her goal is too continue in her dancing career, continuing her education and furthering the knowledge that she can share with her students to help them flourish in their journey as dancers, providing them with courage, knowledge and love for dance.
Miss Jessica is a recent graduate from Dean College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Dance and a concentration in performance and choreography. Miss Jess has been dancing for 15 years now; she grew up taking lyrical, jazz, acro, ballet, pointe, tap, and hip hop. She was also a competitive gymnast for 13 years on a gymnastics team and has had 6 years of background as a gymnastics coach. In her time at Dean, Miss Jess was trained in all styles including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop, and contemporary. During that time, she had the opportunity to study abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina for a two-week intensive where she studied tango, folklorico, and the samba. In her senior year, Miss Jess had the opportunity to take residency and study under top choreographers Janice Rosario, Jay T, Tracie Stanfield, and Ryan Kasprzak. She also had the chance to train and perform in the 2017 Patriots pregame Kickoff Show at Gillette Stadium.
